History of the domain name council
The Austrian domain name council has been established in the course of a constituent meeting on 24 July 2001. For the first time in Austria, there is a board which consists of different representatives of the internet community and which is actively involved in the development of the domain administration.
The issues of the domain name council are as manifold as the qualifications and functions of its individual members. They range from legal questions like the domain arbitration, the Whois-display and the contractual relationships between registries and ICANN, to technical issues like nameserver security to operative concerns like a "code of practice" for registrars.
